Using the journal for Mom’s as a base, Wendy had a few requests:
- Visually noticeable that it’s a journal, you can write in.
- Design mirrors and compliments Journal for Mom
- Similar color scheme or contrary color scheme
Keeping to the similar design aesthetic to the Jounral for Mom, the Journal for Dad had identical design elements with minor changes. Various silhouettes were tested with various photos of fathers to find the best composition for the title. The initial color schemes I had in mind were a contrasting scheme compared to the Journal for Mom. Originally, I had the idea with warmer colors like the muted yellows and saturated red/oranges with a complimentary pastel blue. The client preferred it similar color scheme to the Mom journal. After testing with a small focus group comprising of fathers and potential fathers, majority chose the same color scheme with a darker blue as the color of the silhouette.
The book is currently in the works of being published with it’s new cover.
